Established 1961

Two of the dogs currently waiting to be re-homed. Jasper and Sharnie are both active and lively dogs, and love long walks in the country.

The Leicestershire and Rutland Stray Dog Sanctuary has been run by the same family for over forty years.  We are a self-funding organization and donations of food and blankets are always welcome.  We do not actively request cash donations.

We always have stray and unwanted dogs, many have background history and all are looking for good, loving homes; if you think you can offer one of our dogs a second chance, then please visit our sanctuary.

No appointment is necessary, and our opening times are as follows:

Monday to Saturday:        9.00 am - 3.30 pm

Sunday:                            10.00 am - 3.30 pm

We are located just off the A607 at Frisby-on-the-Wreake, four miles from Melton Mowbray on the Leicester road.

Please telephone us only if it is absolutely necessary, we cannot tell you about individual dogs looking for homes, as they may have already been re-homed by the time you arrive. We are a very busy kennels, and personal callers will always be given preference over telephone callers.

If you already have a dog or children, we recommend that you bring them along when you are viewing, so that you can see if any dog you are interested in is going to be compatible with your family. A secure, fenced, garden at your home is necessary.

If you have a dog that needs to be found a good new home, a few pens are usually available; collection can sometimes be arranged.

We also have a small shop selling collars and leads, beds, bowls etc. plus a  showground displaying custom built wooden kennels for the home and garden. These may also be viewed by visiting,
